Just a quick post to invite you all to join me for this challenge on September 28th. Of course I always try to walk, my dog insists, but it's fun to have a challenge. This is also a pretty good website on the iVillage network!

It is time to put things to the test. I've written in the past about how it's our subconscious thoughts that keep us from doing the things we have to do, from having a healthy relationship with food, that causes us to have our compulsions to eat more than we actually need.
We were raised by parents who were either raised in or directly influenced by a generation affected by the great depression. Finish your plate meant this might be your last meal. The suffering and deprivation of that time placed a scar on the psyche of that generation that has manifested into this generation of plenty in the form of excess and obesity.
The trick is to reprogram the subconscious and in all my research into this part of the understanding, two things stand out. They are EFT and Hypnosis.
A few months back I purchased a download from Hypnotransformations and started using it. I felt as though I was having some success however a computer crash caused me to lose the download. The computer was restored and a new account created however I couldn't find it in the iTunes library. A few days ago though, while cleaning out some old files...I found it!
So here starts a new chapter in this blog. The journey using hypnosis to fix my relationship with food. I will record all of my observations on here as time goes on excluding my weight. Through a lot of work I've not weighed myself in over a year. But I have a whole closet of too-tight clothes that will be the test.
So last night I listened to the hypnosis download for the first time. Today? I feel good. Let's see how this goes. I will be inviting the creator of the hypnosis Mp3 that I'm using, Kim at Hypnotransformations to guest post here at some time. Please follow along as I work through her program.

In spending much of my life in a feast or famine cycle of dieting, and in spending the last few months determined not to diet, I've discovered that the biggest detriment to my success at weight loss, at becoming healthy and well and shedding the diet mentality along with excess pounds is my own tendency to slip into inertia.
I continuously find excuses not to walk, not to make a nice salad, reasons to do the things that I've always done. It's a pattern of intertia. A pattern of not doing instead of doing, of allowing procrastination to rule my day. I'll do it when the kids go back to school(I have a super large wagon that fits the kids and the cat) or I'll do it after they are in bed(it's dark, I don't) or "I'll make black bean soup tomorrow" and I don't, because tomorrow is as busy as today.
So my new determination is to become a person who does the work. Now. Because in the doing of it is where the determination to do well comes from.
The Wright brothers didn't invent the airplane by pondering the staying on the ground of things. So instead of thinking about what I'm going to be doing, it's time to actually start doing it.
I invite everybody to join me in the no more excuses, time to do it now, portion of their journey.
Affirmation: Today, in this minute even, I will do what is best for my health and wellness. And tomorrow I will do the same.

Just a quick post to let everybody know that Dr. Bruce Lipton is on Aware Radio tomorrow at 2:30! These free teleseminars are fantastic, I joined up from the beginning but I believe you can join at any time. I am looking forward to listening to the show as it happens.
Dr. Bruce Lipton wrote the book "The Biology of Belief" and explains how the brain works and how it's our perceptions that control our life not our DNA, something that I found incredibly helpful in changing a lot of things I didn't like about my life!
Check out the teleseminar and learn what it's all about!

It has been a crazy few weeks. I am likely a few pounds heavier and suddenly I'm feeling it. I feel wonky, caught a cold and I'm tired more. My diet has gotten crazy out of control and I haven't exercised regularly for about a month. So who am I to dole out advice to you, to inspire you, how can I inspire my readers to do what I haven't been doing? I can't inspire you by those actions but I can try to pick myself up and give you an example of getting back on track after a derailment!
I've not posted for a while either and again, the same excuse applies. It's been a crazy few weeks and the rhythm of my life hasn't been conducive to my success. I love the warm, long, sunny days of summer, but the lack of routine plays havoc with my ability to fit things in. Exercise is the first thing to go.
And then the fresh Ontario peaches came. And I made a pie, and a crisp and proceeded to eat them over the past few weeks. Then the heat came, ice cream is good in the heat! Oh, life and food, food and life, they creep in and creep up on you and before you know it, you are unmotivated and sluggish and up a few pounds once more.
It's time to start taking control. Knowing that this is a journey, that we're travelling on foot, not by some Star-Trek magic where we are suddenly beamed into that size seven pair of jeans, is of utmost importance! This is real, this is life. Accepting that these normal fluctuations will occur is imperative to the success and joy of the journey.
I'm a walker and I'm walking today. I haven't been completely sedentary, there are muscles aching right now from my Wednesday night rowing practice(we are learning a new stroke and I have a completely new set of muscles apparantly) but I've been less than motivated to walk, something that has been part of my routine for years! My body is missing the exercise. My mind is missing the meditative aspect of walking and my heart is missing my community, the people I wave to as we go along, wagon load of kids, dog tied to the side, heck even the cat(aptly named Princess) sits in the wagon occasionally and goes along for a ride!
So forward we go. Strapping on the running shoes, heading out the door. It's time to focus and recapture my life as an active, fit, healthy individual again.
Affirmation: Every day is an opportunity to start or restart living as an active and healthy participant in your life! Today I will take that opportunity once again!
